Sometimes when we look at today’s stars, we forget the ones that paved the way for them. We remember players like Michael Jordan and Larry Bird because of their great player and likable personalities. They only played on great teams, dynasties that have been cemented in team forever. But, do we know about lesser known players like Walt Frazier? These players were good to great and are in their respective seat in the Hall of Fame. These players deserve their spots but why do they lack the given respect of others?

A reason for this is because some players played in a less exciting fashion. They did not do dunks and make great players but they got the job done. Sometimes these players are almost like average solid players who have done enough for 20 years to get in. These players will probably not be remembered as well as a result. In another aspect, it seems as if the team you play on helps too. If you have played on some great teams, it can be much easier to remember your name and who you were. Meanwhile, if you played on an old team that is not well known, it can hurt your chances of being referred to today.

On top of all of this, there comes length. The number of years in the league gives you a good chance to be remembered for events, like All-star games and for awards. After this, supreme play is rewarded. Everyone knows the top players today but do they know the top players of yesterday? If you are a true NBA fan, you should know more than just what you have seen. You have to know the past players who were great and the players that are making their move now.
